Introduction
UWealth ("the app", "we", "our") is a personal finance tracker for recording mutual funds, fixed deposits, property, cash accounts, loans, and everyday expenses. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and what control you have over it.
UWealth is built and maintained by an independent developer, not a financial institution. The app does not provide investment advice, and it does not transmit your financial records to us or to any analytics or advertising company.
Data we collect
Everything you enter into UWealth — mutual fund holdings, FD details, property valuations, bank and cash balances, loan installments, expenses, and savings targets — is data you provide directly, for the sole purpose of showing it back to you inside the app.
| Category | Examples | Collected because |
|---|---|---|
| Financial records | Fund units, NAVs, FD principal & maturity values, property valuations, expenses, loan installments | Core function of the app — calculating your net worth |
| Account identifiers | Google account email address | Only if you choose to sign in for cloud backup |
| Location (optional) | Coarse or precise device location | Only used if you tag a property's location on the map |
| Backup PIN | A PIN you set yourself | Used to encrypt your backup file before upload |
UWealth does not collect your name, phone number, contacts, photos, browsing history, or device identifiers for advertising purposes, and the app contains no ad SDKs.
Where your data lives
By default, all financial data you enter is stored only on your device, in a local database. It is never automatically sent anywhere.
If you optionally turn on cloud backup, a single backup file — encrypted on your device before it ever leaves it — is uploaded to your own Google Drive account, in a hidden application-data folder that is not visible in your regular Drive file list and that no one but the app (using your sign-in) can open.
Google services we use
Google Sign-In
Used only to authorize backup and restore. We receive your email address so the app can show you which account is connected — we do not use it for marketing or share it with anyone.
Google Drive (App Data folder)
Stores your encrypted backup file. The app requests the restricted drive.appdata scope only, which cannot see or touch any other files in your Drive.
Google Maps
Used to display a map and let you pin a location when adding a property asset. Map interactions are handled by Google's Maps SDK under Google's own privacy policy; UWealth does not log or store your movements.
Location data
UWealth requests location permission solely to help you drop an accurate pin when recording a property's address on the map. Location is not read in the background, not attached to any other record, and not sent to us. You can deny this permission and still use every other feature of the app — only the "pin on map" convenience for properties will be unavailable.
Security
Your backup file is encrypted on-device using AES-256-GCM before it is ever uploaded, with the key derived from the PIN you choose. We never transmit your raw financial data or your PIN to any server we operate — there is no server; the only remote copy is the encrypted file in your own Drive.
As with any app, no method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed 100% secure. Choosing a PIN that isn't easily guessed, and keeping your Google account itself secure (e.g. with two-factor authentication), meaningfully protects your backup.
Retention & deletion
- On-device data is kept until you delete individual records, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
- Cloud backups are kept until you delete the backup file from within the app, disconnect your Google account, or remove app access from your Google Account permissions page.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. It does not remove a Drive backup you created — do that separately if you want it gone too.
Children's privacy
UWealth is a personal finance tool intended for adults managing their own money, and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age defined by local law). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your choices
- Use the app entirely offline, with no Google sign-in, and no data ever leaves your device.
- Export your data to Excel at any time for your own records or to move to another tool.
- Disconnect Google Drive access at any point without losing locally stored records.
- Delete your on-device data by clearing the app's storage in Android Settings, or by uninstalling the app.
